BostonBruins.com – Boston Bruins prospect Jared Knight and the London Knights won the Rogers OHL Championship Friday with a 2-1 victory over the Niagara IceDogs and a 4-1 series victory.
The championship is the second in franchise history for London, who first won in 2005.
Center Ausin Watson put the Knights on the board first with a goal midway through the second period, and Seth Griffith added another 1:48 into the third period to open a 2-0 lead.
Tom Khunhackl scored 7:53 into the third period to get Niagara on the board, but the IceDogs couldn’t score the elusive second goal.
The Knights will travel to Shawinigan, Quebec for the MasterCard Memorial Cup and will open competition against the QMJHL Champion Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday May 19th.
Jared Knight finished the series with an assist for London, and had four goals and four assists in 15 playoff games.
Defenseman Dougie Hamilton had a goal and three assists in the series, while compiling five goals and 18 assists in 20 playoff games.
