Playoff Exit to Washington in the Past

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 2011-12 season didn’t end so well for the Bruins, who were shocked at their early first round exit from the playoffs thanks to an overtime goal from Washington’s Joel Ward, after heading in as the defending Stanley Cup champs.
“Again, it’s sports; for sure it’s a tough one, but that’s the way it is,” Captain Zdeno Chara had wrestled out following the Game 7 loss to the Washington Capitals on April 25, 2012, with a quiet, disappointed locker room surrounding him.
Fast forward to March 5, 2013, and while at the time, the loss was backbreaking, it’s hardly a blip on the B’s radar now, as they prepare to face off against the Capitals for the first time since that night.
“It’s been so long now, that I haven’t even thought about it until now,” Daniel Paille said following the B’s morning skate at the Verizon Center. “I think most of the guys realize what happened last year and are over it.”
