Bruins Announce 2011-12 Schedule

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Bruins announced today their 2011-12 regular season schedule. The full schedule can be found below and all local and national broadcast information will be released at a later date.

The reigning Stanley Cup champions will open the season against the Philadelphia Flyers at the TD Garden on Thursday, October 6 at 7 p.m. ET.

Home highlights at the TD Garden include: their annual day-after-Thanksgiving matinee home game on Friday, November 25, which will be against the Detroit Red Wings at 1 p.m. ET and a Stanley Cup Final rematch with the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, January 7 at 1 p.m. ET. The B’s longest homestand of the 2011-12 season is five games, from November 7 through November 17.

STARTING GOALTENDERS: Thomas (34-11-9, 2.02 GAA, .938 Save %) vs. McElhinney (9-12-1, 3.19 GAA, .913 Save %). Thomas is 18-8-2 with a 1.94 GAA and a shutout in 28 career games against Ottawa, and leads the league in GAA and save percentage. McElhinney has never faced the Bruins in his career.

FAN APPRECIATION DAY: The Boston Bruins are hosting “Fan Appreciation Day” today in an effort to thank fans for their continued support throughout the 2010-11 season. Immediately following the Bruins/Senators game, Bruins players will remain on the ice and throw t-shirts into the stands, then hand 23 fans that were chosen throughout the game the “Shirt off their Backs.”

  • NHLN U.S. announces pre-season broadcast schedule
    Those aching to watch some hockey won’t have to wait any longer.
    Live NHL hockey returns to NHL Network beginning Tuesday, with an unprecedented total of 35 preseason games broadcast in the U.S., providing fans with nightly contests from around the League through Sunday, Oct. 3.
    It marks the most comprehensive coverage of the preseason ever on the Network, with 40 hours of live game broadcasts and 78 hours total of live and delayed broadcasts. Including re-broadcasts, there will be more than 200 hours of preseason action available on NHL Network-U.S. The 2010-11 NHL regular season begins Thursday, Oct. 7.
    The 35-game schedule begins with the Philadelphia Flyers hosting the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. ET in the first game of a Sept. 21 broadcast triple-header. The next night, the Tampa Bay Lightning face the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre in one of three games available.
    Other highlights of the pre-season schedule include the 2010 Kraft Hockeyville game between the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators in Dundas, Ontario.  33 out of the 35 games will be shown in HD.
