Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has assigned Matt Bartkowski to Providence.
BostonBruins.com - Matt Bartkowski has had a whirlwind of a week in the Black & Gold.
Amidst of all of the outside talk, the defenseman has kept a calm approach, and the easy-going 24-year-old earned himself a spot back in the lineup Sunday in Buffalo for his third game with Boston since being recalled on March 22 and his 12th career NHL game.
A strong puck-handler and skater, Bartkowski’s heads-up pass in the third period helped get the Bruins on the board first, breaking the scoreless 50-plus minutes of hockey against the Sabres. Not a bad way to record his first-ever NHL point.

BostonBruins.com - It was quite an interesting 48 hours for defenseman Matt Bartkowski, who had an inkling Wednesday night when he was scratched by Boston and watched the game against Montreal from the press box, that the rumors swirling around about him might be true - that he was headed to Calgary in the trade for Jaroma Iginla.
“I had my suspicions just because I was scratched and then seeing that [Alexander] Khokhlachev was, and Iginla. You hear all the rumors, I had suspicions.”
But Bartkowski, who had been recalled March 22 after Johnny Boychuk was termed day-to-day with a lower-body injury, heard the news late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning that Iginla was a Penguin - and that he was still remaining a Bruin.

BostonBruins.com — A big part of the P-Bruins turnaround has been the play of blueliner Matt Bartkowski, whose own season has mirrored his club’s sharp upturn in recent weeks.
PROVIDENCE, RI — Matt (The Dude?) Bartkowski has a way with words.
When asked about the P-Bruins 4-0 loss to the St. John’s IceCaps last Sunday, a defeat the ended an eight game point streak for Providence, the defenseman simply said, “We did get our butt’s kicked…”
The P-Bruins preseason may be over, but there’s still time for Lane MacDermid and Matt Bartkowski to prepare for the 2012-13 AHL season.
