Khudobin Gets Second Career Shutout

BostonBruins.com – For just the third time this season Sunday night, the Boston Bruins shut out their opponent. It was the first time, however, that Anton Khudobin was the goalie between the pipes. Tuukka Rask had the first two Bruins’ shutouts of the season – a 1-0 win over Toronto on February 2 and a 3-0 victory over Philadelphia on March 9.

The B’s 2-0 win over the Sabres in Buffalo gave Khudobin his first shutout in a Bruins uniform, and the second of his NHL career. (His first came on January 16, 2011, while he was a member of the Minnesota Wild, when he shutdown the Vancouver Canucks, stopping all 32 shots that came his way.)

Khudobin made 26 saves Sunday, and David Krejci and Nathan Horton scored 2:50 apart in the third period to break the 52 minutes of scoreless hockey, en route to improving his record to 7-3-0 on the season, with a .925 save percentage and 2.07 goals against average.

Casualty from Monday’s practice at MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg = Dobby’s stick.To the eye, it doesn’t necessarily seem broken, since it’s not a clean break, but the wobbly blade made it hard for Anton Khudobin to handle the puck about halfway through practice. You don’t usually see a goalie’s stick snap like a shooter’s stick would, so in this case, the blade probably just “delaminated” as Equipment Manager Keith Robinson would say and became too soft… and this one definitely looks like it’s been through some wear and tear!-Caryn Switaj ^CS

Khudobin Kept B's In It

BostonBruins.com – The Pittsburgh Penguins led the NHL in goals per game (3.65) heading into Tuesday night’s showdown with the Bruins. Their powerful offense also had them towards the top on the power play – they rank third, converting on 25.7 of their chances with the man advantage (though they were 0-4 on Tuesday).

Even with the league’s most potent offense, and arguably the league’s greatest player, Sidney Crosby, always looming, the Bruins were shutting out the Pens through 54 minutes.

Anton Khudobin was standing strong under the bright lights of a premier matchup – the second night of a back-to-back, on the road – against a team that many believe could meet the B’s down the road in the playoffs.

But, the Bruins struggled to clamp down on a third period lead, allowing the Penguins to rally for three goals in the final six minutes and come away with a 3-2 win.

Once Again, Khudobin Solid

BOSTON, MA – Anton Khudobin stepped in for Tuukka Rask on Thursday night and, once again, handed out a solid performance. The B’s number two backstop made 25 saves on 27 shots in the Bruins’ 4-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at TD Garden.

Early on in the first period, Khudobin’s play was immense. He made a dazzling right pad stop on Tyler Bozak during a 5-on-3 advantage for the Maple Leafs to keep the game scoreless.

Khudobin Gets First Garden Win

BOSTON, MA – With the Bruins facing a tough back-to-back this weekend, it was important for the B’s to utilize their goaltending depth. Head Coach Claude Julien gave backup, Anton Khudobin, the start – his first ever home start in the spoked-B and first time getting the call since February 15th at Buffalo – against Tampa Bay on Saturday afternoon, and the Kazakhstan native delivered.

In the B’s thrilling, 3-2, victory over the Lightning, Khudobin made 20 saves and improved to 3-1-0 on the season. It was also his first career win at TD Garden as a member of the Black & Gold.
