Chemistry Always Comes Easily for Bruins

Just how important is chemistry to a team?

Whether on or off the ice, especially at the start of a new season, the buzz word gets thrown around constantly.

Because, really, it’s that beneficial to the way a group of individuals like the men in the spoked-B find success together.

"It always is and you’ve heard so many players say it, and a lot of them have been veteran players, from Mark Recchi to even Jags [Jaromir Jagr] who said this was one of the best groups he’s ever been with," Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien said following his team’s October 8 practice.

"That speaks volume to me, anyways, that our room is that close and good to each other, and guys that have come in have never heard a guy say, ‘Nobody made me feel comfortable here at home.’ The guys have done a good job of that."

Kelly, Dominant Penalty Kill Spark Bruins in Season Opening Win - Boston Bruins - Blog

The Boston Bruins got the season off on a winning note, dropping the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 on goals from Chris Kelly, Milan Lucic, and Patrice Bergeron.

"I think our team is in a good place right now mentally and we’re ready for another big challenge this year. Whether we would have won last year or not, we would have had to turn the page this year and start all over again. So that’s what we’re doing, we’re starting from scratch and we have to earn a spot in the playoffs first before we even talk about anything else."

"And we’re willing to put the work towards that right now."

- Head Coach Claude Julien

No Better Time for Kelly to End Scoring Drought

BostonBruins.com - For the Bruins’ 17 games this postseason, Chris Kelly had been staying positive, focusing on his defensive game, his workhorse role on the B’s shutdown penalty kill, his strength in the faceoff circle, the little details of the game.

He was trying to score - it wasn’t a barrage, but he put up 19 shots in the process.

For 17 games, he was happy for his teammates, and his team to have powered through three series to reach the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in three years.

On Saturday night at the United Center in Chicago, with the Bruins down 1-0 in the second period to the home Blackhawks, and down 1-0 in the series, Kelly was rewarded with his first goal - and point - of the postseason.

Seguin, Kelly Line Working to Build Chemistry

WILMINGTON, MATyler Seguin and Chris Kelly can feel it coming. Claude Julien can, too.

The line of Seguin, Kelly and Rich Peverley has had trouble getting on the board during the postseason, combining for just two goals and three assists. But Seguin’s tally in Game Four against the New York Rangers and a strong performance by the entire line in Game Five has everybody feeling much better about the state of the trio heading into the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Julien thinks that Seguin heating up and skating alongside Kelly and Peverley could rekindle some of the magic those two had with goal-scorer Michael Ryder during the Bruins’ run to the Stanley Cup two years ago.

“I think Richard can, offensively, have better numbers-there’s no doubt there-and so can Kells. They’ve shown that in the past,” said the B’s Head Coach, following his team’s practice at Ristuccia Arena on Wednesday morning.
