Horton Day-to-Day

CHICAGO, IL - Right wing Nathan Horton left the ice during the first overtime of Game One on Wednesday night, and did not return to the bench for the rest of the game. He skated off the ice after a collision near the goal during a B’s power play. Head Coach Claude Julien was not able to provide an update following the game, as the doctors had not finished Horton’s evaluation.

With the Bruins and Blackhawks not practicing on Thursday following the 4-3 triple overtime game that ended in favor of the Hawks, Coach Julien addressed the media from the team’s hotel in downtown Chicago.

Julien labeled Horton as “day-to-day.”

If he’s not ready to go for Game Two on Saturday, the Bruins’ extra forward group that includes Jay Pandolfo, Carl Soderberg and Jordan Caron is ready to go. Kaspars Daugavins, part of that squad for most of the postseason, demonstrated that readiness when he was inserted into the lineup following Gregory Campbell's season-ending injury.

Horton Takes One for the Team, Earns Jacket

BostonBruins.com - With 7:02 left on the clock in overtime four-on-four action at the Air Canada Centre Wednesday night, Nathan Horton took a hit from Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf that clipped him right to the ice.

Horton was pushing up ice after pressure from Zdeno Chara on Phil Kessel had caused the puck to come free along the boards. Catching a glimpse of Phaneuf coming up on him, the forward quickly tried to push the puck to his linemate, David Krejci, as he was absorbing the hit.

"I knew he was coming; I tried get myself around him too when I tipped the puck, and obviously he took me out, and I couldn’t get around him," Horton said of the Phaneuf hit, as he spoke to reporters Thursday at TD Garden during the Bruins’ optional skate day. "But it worked out well because Dave got it."

"It happened, but if it wouldn’t have been for Horty - he took that hit to make a play," said Krejci Wednesday night, after scoring the overtime-winner eight seconds after the hit, to cap off his hat trick in the 4-3 win."

Horton Skates with B's, Excited to Hit Refresh

BOSTON, MA - The Bruins were back to practice Tuesday at TD Garden prior to Game 1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.

Nathan Horton joined the team on the ice for the first time, since being out day-to-day with an upper-body injury afar leaving the April 21st game against Pittsburgh. Horton was reunited with Milan Lucic and David Krejci on the line sporting white jerseys.

Though the strong forward has been skating on his own, he was certainly excited to get back with his teammates - and the timing couldn’t be better.

Practice 4/22: McQuaid Heading to Philly, Horton Staying Back

WILMINGTON, MA - The Bruins snapped a four-game skid on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 shutout of the Florida Panthers, featuring solid goaltending, stronger defense and a touch of their “edge” and physicality that has made them such a tough team to play against in recent years.

It’s not quite near the level they want it to be, but the theme around the locker room seems to be that they’re “heading in the right direction.”

"I don’t know where exactly we did, but we really turned a corner when you start not just focusing on the results but you do focus on the positives and how we were playing and working towards things," said blueliner Andrew Ference following Sunday’s win at TD Garden.

"And [we] have kind of the bigger picture in mind of what we’re getting ready for and what we’re gearing up for, so it’s going the right direction for sure."

Horty's Gordie Powers B's

BOSTON, MA
- On his first shift of Saturday’s game, Nathan Horton ignited the TD Garden crowd with a heavy hit along the boards on the Capitals’ Eric Fehr.

That came just 1:36 in, and from the then on, Horton and his teammates set the tone with their physicality.

By the end of the afternoon, Horton would have a Gordie Howe hat trick, with a goal, two assists, and a bout with Matt Hendricks.

"Obviously, we haven’t scored for a while, but I think our line played a lot better tonight," said Horton from in front of his locker room stall postgame, sporting his signature smile and the B’s new "player of the game" t-shirt.

"Like Claude said, when you’re thinking you’re up and you’re making plays, you make more mistakes when you do that. Just get the puck deep. You saw that on every goal. I chipped the puck to Looch’s corner."

Momentum Shifters

Milan Lucic

Milan Lucic, Nathan Horton, Adam McQuaid and Tuukka Rask have all put lingering questions to rest on whether they’re ready to battle in 2012-13. And all four showcased their ability to spark momentum swings in games during Wednesday night’s tilt with the New York Rangers in which the B’s managed to fight back and gain a point in the standings.
