Thornton, Foundation to Host Stride for Health

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Bruins Foundation and forward Shawn Thornton have teamed up with Hallmark Health System and Olympic gold medalist Mike Eruzione to host the fifth annual Dr. Bob Harney Stride for Health Walk, Run or Roll on Saturday, August 18 at Revere Beach in Revere, MA. The event is set to start at 9:00 a.m., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. behind the State Police Barracks (220 Revere Beach Blvd, Revere, MA 02151). The day will also include a post-event barbecue on Revere Beach.

Weekend Update: Road to World Juniors – During the otherwise quiet month of August, prospects Matt Grzelcyk, Dougie Hamilton and Malcolm Subban have upped the tempo of their offseason regimens, as their respective countries begin early preparations for the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

Living Proof

PROVINCETOWN, MA — The 32 cyclists that comprised the Boston Bruins Foundation Bike Team participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge for a number of reasons. Above all else, they were motivated by their desires to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in its effort to combat cancer.

Jimmy Fund Welcomes Rask - Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask recently paid a visit to the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where he was greeted with a warm welcome from the staff and patients.

“It was actually my first time in this particular place,” Rask said from the lobby of the Yawkey Center for Cancer Care. “It’s a great building they have here, and it was good to see that there weren’t too many kids here today.”

Rask to Visit Jimmy Fund Clinic

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask will make an appearance at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund Clinic on Thursday, August 2. Dana-Farber provides pediatric care in the Jimmy Fund Clinic and in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital as Dana-Farber/Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.

After visiting with the children and their families, Rask will be available to speak with the media. The appearance marks the first time that Rask will address the media since finalizing a one-year, $3.5 million contract on July 1.

Dave Silk to Visit B's Summer Camp

BOSTON, MA – On Wednesday, August 1, Bruins alum and 1980 Olympic gold medalist Dave Silk will be visiting the Boston Bruins Summer Camp presented by Stonyfield Farm at Armstrong Arena in Plymouth, MA to help lead the on-ice instruction.

The Scituate, MA native played parts of two seasons with the Bruins from 1983-85, registering 20-22=42 totals in 64 games, and most notably helped Team USA achieve gold in the 1980 “Miracle on Ice.”

B's Host "When You Read, You Score" Guest Reader Mayor Menino Today

BOSTON – On Tuesday, July 24, the Boston Bruins will host Mayor Thomas J. Menino as a special “When You Read, You Score” guest reader at Codman Square. Mayor Menino will be reading “Baby Brains: The Smartest Baby in the Whole World” to 150 Boston children. Following the reading, the Mayor and the Bruins mascot, Blades, will hand out Bruins goodie bags with books provided by ReadBoston to each of the children in attendance.
