Go Ahead and Ask... - There is no shortage of times that Christian Hanson has been asked about his dad Dave’s famous role as a Hanson brother in the hockey cult classic “Slap Shot.” But for the younger Hanson, the aura of the Hanson brothers has been a welcome byline attached to his name.

Hanson Brings Versatility — New Bruins forward Christian Hanson has a unique hockey pedigree.

His father Dave, who played 33 games in the NHL for the Minnesota North Stars and Detroit Red Wings among many stops (including the New England Whalers) during a long professional career, gave his son a piece of advice as he got his start in hockey.

"If you’re not playing for the love of the game, you’re playing for the wrong reason,” said the elder Hanson.

Bruins Sign Christian Hanson

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed center Christian Hanson to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2012-13 season. Click here for the team’s official release.

  • Hanson has played in 148 career AHL games with Toronto and Hershey, tallying 35-51=86 totals goals and 128 penalty minutes.
  • He skated in a career-high 31 NHL games with the Maple Leafs in 2009-10 - the same season he was selected to the 2010 AHL All-Star Game.
  • The 26-year-old played four years of college hockey at Notre Dame before the pros, and B’s fans may recognize his father, Dave Hanson, from the iconic hockey-centric movie Slap Shot.
